What is Android Auto?
Android Auto works to allow the features of your Android phone to operate from the dashboard of your car. You’ll find an easy to use range of familiar menus, icons, and interfaces. If you’re an Android user and you want to access some nifty Android features in your car- then you’re in luck! Let’s take a look at what’s in store should you opt for Android Auto.
Use Google Assistant
Using Google Assistant when driving is both super convenient and safe (because it’s easy to keep your eyes on the road). Whether you want to make a call, change the music, or ask for info, you’ll never have to touch your phone. All you have to do is to simply press the voice command button or use the ‘OK Google’ feature. Anything that Google Assistant can do when you’re using it on your phone can be achieved while driving. (Of course-with safety in mind). Google Assistant is really handy for finding out the best local restaurants when you're on a road trip and need a break!
Navigation System
With Android Auto, you can use a Google Maps based navigation system. The feature is great because the instructions are step by step and really easy to follow. Google Maps will immediately find a different route in the case of heavy traffic. Any saved destinations from your phone will appear there automatically. There’s no chance of you getting lost with Android Auto- so you can drive easy! With an excellent navigation system, you don’t have to put much effort into planning your next journey.
Music & Podcasts
Android Auto makes it easy to connect to all of the music and podcasts that you love- the same way that you would via your phone. Gone are the days where we’d surf the car radio stations to try and find something we could tolerate! With Android Auto, you’ll always be perfectly entertained on the roads. Podcasts are great for those long journeys, and there are so many out there to get stuck into.
How to set up
Make sure that you have a good level of phone coverage (and that the car is stationary). Download the app from the Google Play Store and then open it on your phone. Now you’ll be given the option to connect to a new device. Once you find your phone, you just need to approve the handshake option on the screen. It’s a pretty simple process that you only need to do once and then you’re good to go.
Behind us are the times when iPhone users got to have all the fun! There’s so much you can do with an Android, from transfer files between Android and Mac to accessing chrome tabs from other devices. There are plenty of reasons to get yourself and Android and start reaping the rewards. As with any car software, make sure that you are focusing on your driving first.
