FUN ROVER STORAGE

Regardless of whether you have just bought a brand new Rover or an older one, you might want to customise it to make it a bit more special. Some people spend a lot of money doing this, but the end results can be amazing. If you are buying from new, Rover will offer some options that will make yours different to anyone else’s, but that does not mean you cannot customise an older model as well.

Start With The Wheels

There are a huge variety of wheels on the market, and you can also have some made that are totally unique. To some extent, it does depend on what you are going to use the car for as to which type of wheel is most suitable. However, if the car will only be driven on roads and you are purely looking for some with appeal, you could buy some alloys in silver or black and they will look the part.

The only thing is that you need to make sure they will fit your Rover, but the wheel dealers will be able to help you with that.

Number Plates

Private number plates are a great addition to any car, including your Rover. You have to be sensible about this as some of them cost many thousands of pounds. Although it might be very tempting to go for something like ‘F1’ for example, can you really afford more than four hundred thousand pounds for it, as that is what in sold for back in 2008? The most expensive UK number plate of all was ’25 O’ which sold for £518,000 in 2014.

You can buy them a lot cheaper than this though. DVLA sell them direct to purchasers, or there are agencies that will help you to find the one you want.

Most people opt for their initials, and it is great if the numbers mean something to you as well. These sort of private number plates you can purchase for just a few hundred pounds rather than thousands, but you do have to be aware that you will have to pay transfer fees every time you change your car if you want it moved to your new purchase.

Custom Bumpers And Grill

Changing the bumpers and grill can give a whole new appearance to your Rover car. They come in all shapes and sizes, and there is bound to be some that would suit your vehicle. You could go for something sleeker, or a heavier looking type. Whichever you choose changing them will make your car look very different.

Exhaust

A new exhaust system cannot only change the look of your car it can change the sound too. There are legal limits that any exhaust must comply with, but as long as your new exhaust complies, it can make difference to your Rover car.

People will only see the exhaust pipe from the back of the car, but that does not matter too much as you will know you have a new and upgraded exhaust system.

Lights

The types of headlights and taillights you can fit your car can be restricted by the shape of the bodywork and where they have to fit. That does not mean, however, that you cannot put some totally different lights on your car to make it look different., and sometimes the answer is to fit lights that are usually used on a different Rover car. New lights with the new bumpers and grill can have an amazing effect, and some people may wonder if it truly is a Rover car.

Paintwork

You could have the paintwork of your Rover done just to change the colour, or you could have a paint job that will make heads turn. This is one job that you should use professionals for, as it is not like painting a wall in your home. It requires skill to get a good finish that will look the part and be durable.

You could have something that is really way out. Having pictures, logos and others things painted on cars is becoming more popular than ever.

Alternatively, you could totally change the appearance by having your Rover car wrapped. The advantages of this are that it is quick and cost-effective; it is reversible if you want to go back to your original colour and the wrapping will protect your paintwork from the weather elements and minor scuffs. You do not have to have the whole car wrapped. You could just have the mirrors, bumper and grills done if you want.

The most common wraps used are made from vinyl with a strong adhesive backing, and it is expected for them to last up to 5 years. This is another job you should not try to complete yourself, as there is a knack to getting it right.

The Interior

Although this customisation will not be seen as you are driving along, there are many ways you can change the interior of your car. You could change the seats or the seat covers, install a new radio or maybe a cd player, or you could add cup holders and additional storage. You might even consider having a satnav installed, although these are becoming less common with the advent of navigation tools on smartphones. These things are all done quite easily and can make for a more comfortable journey for you and any passengers.

Buying Old Rover Cars To Customise

This is becoming a hobby for some people. As with all makes of cars you can buy older models quite cheaply. They were originally built to a good standard, and as long as they have been looked after, they will not need much work to make them roadworthy and to get them through an MOT. Then the customising work can start, and there are so many things that can be done, that some people started this as a hobby, but it has now become a business. A customised Rover is a very saleable motor, and making money from the completed works is not difficult to do.
