FUN ROVER STORAGE

The first weekly build episode is out, giving you an update where the Defender tribute build is currently at. We've been busy stripping down the axles, researching paint coatings to use on the chassis and setting up an electrolysis tank to restore steel components from the Landy.

We'd like to thank LR Centre Ltd  for coming onboard as our main sponsor for the build. LR Centre Ltd are a quickly growing Land Rover parts supplier and we appreciate they way they operate and their attitude towards Land Rovers. We'll be sourcing the main bulk of components from them and will provide non-intrusive links to their site for the items we purchase in each video.

Defender Rebuild Planning Advice

We also talk about some of the major points to consider when planning out your Landy rebuild / restoration.

    • Budget & Time (Tools, rental e.t.c, parts, space for job, your time) - keeps you motivated
    • Help - 2 person jobs, who will help
    • Space - people have rebuilt land rovers on a garden, power, electric water?
    • Condition of vehicle (rough guide, old vehicle, heavy use, launch boats in sea) - basic inspections, check service and parts history) poke around with screwdriver, examine the paintwork, does everything work on the landy?
    • Rolling restoration or not
    • How much work will you carry out - DIY or professional
    • Local suppliers for shot blasting galv e.t.c, ask around
    • Final hopes for project, (restore as much as possible, original as possible e.t.c) looks, design e.t.c photoshop it
